Annual Transgender Surgery Fund

You can apply for the next Surgery Fund starting November 1, 2016.

The Transgender Surgery Fund is an annual fundraiser hosted by Point 5cc. We provide financial support to trans people in need of affording gender-confirming surgeries.

In 2016, we received an incredible 637 applications from trans people in need. Point 5cc raised $4,600 over the course of the year and awarded Mateo D. and Elizabeth G. $2,300 each towards their gender-confirming surgeries.

How to Apply

Entry to the Transgender Surgery Fund is open each year from November 1 to November 30. Interested applicants can visit this page and fill out the application forms online. Finalists are chosen and announced in late December. Each finalist is asked for an essay that answers a few questions about what the surgery fund would mean for them. Funding is then granted in January/February to the winner(s), who can be any person identifying as transgender (FTM, MTF, genderqueer, non-binary, etc.) who wishes to pursue a gender-confirming surgery.

We have very few requirements for applicants in an effort to be as inclusive as possible. We ask that applicants:

  • identify as transgender
  • are over the age of 18
  • have already begun saving money for their surgery
  • complete their surgery within 18 months of receiving the fund
  • complete their surgery in the United States with a U.S. based surgeon (you may live outside of the U.S. and still apply!)

Applications for the surgery fund are currently closed.

The 2017 fund will be open to applications November 1, 2016.
